opc-init and the new OPC Agent

An updated version of opc-init has been released to Oracle Cloud Downloads
This version of opc-init includes support for the new  OPC Agent, which provides real time guest level metrics to the Oracle Cloud Monitoring service. 
This agent will initially support providing guest memory utilization to the monitoring service and which will be used by PSM to provide additional control over PaaS auto-scaling.

IT Analytics Cloud Service 16.3.3 / Availability Analytics

In latest release, Oracle introduced a new category of analytical applications, called Availability Analytics, focused on health and availability of applications and their infrastructure. Using this app, LOB application owners can pinpoint their worst applications based on occurrences or duration of downtime.


This app also provides out-of-the-box insight into the availability trends to show if it is getting better or worse over time.
IT Managers can use this app to find their most problematic components, e.g. database, application server or host, based on events generated and analyze patterns based on platform, version or category of events, to uncover systemic problems in their application infrastructure.

Oracle introduced a new app in the category of performance analysis called Application Performance Analytics which provides insight into the performance of all applications.


Through the integration of Application Performance Monitoring Cloud service with this app, application managers and DevOps can analyze trends in performance metrics and errors from across applications by various dimension such as geography, device and application tier to identify problem areas in applications and performance degradation over time that may be affecting the application end user experience.

IT Analytics Cloud Service 16.3.3 / Host Resource Analytics

In this release (16.3.3), Oracle introduced a new app in the category of resource analysis called Host Resource Analytics focused on analyzing resources of all types of hosts, e.g. physical servers, Exadata, virtual machines and IaaS.


With this app, capacity planners and heads of infrastructure in enterprises can view the capacity and utilization of all their compute resources on-premise and on-the-cloud at a glance to identify the hosts running out of capacity by resource, e.g. CPU, memory or storage.
The app also identifies hosts with excess capacity so that workload may be transferred to these underutilized hosts, thereby reducing capital procurement costs.

DBCS Snapshot

OPC users can now create snapshots of the Oracle Compute Cloud Service storage volumes that support a Database as a Service database deployment hosting a single-instance database.





These snapshots can be used to create database deployments quickly because their storage is linked to the snapshot’s storage using “copy on write” technology provided by Oracle Compute Cloud Service.
